The Macbook Pro comes with a 13-inch screen, and is available in two colors, silver and space gray. It's 1.56 cm thick and weighs 3 pounds, exactly the same form factor as the previous 13-inch model.
The M2 MacBook Pro retains the same design as the 13-inch MacBook Pro with M1. Most distinctively that includes the Touch Bar, which has otherwise been dropped from the MacBook lineup. Another important distinction over the new M2 MacBook Air is active cooling that helps sustain performance for more power-hungry operations. This is one of the only distinguishing features that might make a potential buyer look past the MacBook Air and towards the Pro.
The M2 MacBook Pro features two Thunderbolt/USB 4 ports with support for both charging, Thunderbolt 3 (up to 40 Gb/s), USB 4 (40Gb/s), and USB 3.1 Gen 2 (10 Gb/s). The MBP can power one external display with up to 6K resolution at 60Hz.
Charging comes by way of the 67W USB-C Power Adapter. A full charge is good for 20 hours of Apple TV app movie playback or 17-hours on the web at best. The M2 MacBook Pro also has a 3.5mm headphone jack.
Apple's 13-inch MacBook Pro now includes the M2 Apple silicon processor. That means an 8-core CPU with four performance and four efficiency cores, as well as a 10-core GPU and up to 100GB/s of memory bandwidth. Apple says the M2 is about 18% faster than the previous M1 chip:
With a faster 8-core CPU and 10-core GPU, working with RAW images in apps like Affinity Photo is nearly 40 percent faster than the previous generation,8 and up to 3.4x faster for users who are upgrading from a model without Apple silicon.
The Unified Memory in the M2 is also faster than M1, featuring 50 percent more bandwidth. It can also be configured up to 24GB, compared to just 16GB in the M1 model.
The M2 MacBook Pro has the same 13.3-inch Retina Display for 2560x1600 resolution, 500 nits of brightness, and Wide color (P3).
The M2 MacBook Pro has storage options of 256GB, 512GB, 1TB, or 2TB SSD storage.
Other features include the standard 720p FaceTime HD camera, a step down from the new MacBook Air with M2. The M2 MacBook Pro has stereo speakers and support for Spatial Audio, and supports Wi-Fi 6 as well as Bluetooth 5.0.
